THANKSGIVING & BLACK FRIDAY

Thanksgiving is an American tradition. I had the chance to spend thanksgiving with the family of a friend. I consider myself extremely lucky for the opportunity of it. And grateful for the family that took me in and treated me so good.

For thanksgiving people eat one thing: TURKEY. Turkeys are the star of each thanksgiving dinner/lunch. However, I did not know that President Barack Obama pardoned two turkeys each year, and I thought it was really curious.

Turkey is so good... It is usually served with mashed potatos and other condiments, such as pumpkin pie... If like me, you despise pumpkin pie, you can always say "no thank you, I ate too much turkey" and avoid having to eat any more pumpkin flavored food.

The day after thanksgiving is Black Friday, the biggest shopping event in the USA - which is spreading rapidly to other countries too - that consists of huge sales and offers in every single shop. The name black friday comes from an economic point. Because when shops and/or businesses don't sell enough, their numbers are in red, as son as they start making profits , their numbers turn black. That is why the event is called Black Friday, because it is estimated that is the day in which, despite the major discounts, shops do their biggest profit.

So... You might be wondering what is it like to experience it. I have to admit I was a bit afraid after watching a video in which there were literally human avalanches and people were threatened, and also people fighting over clothes... However, it was not like that...

We woke up at 4am in the morning... Yes, 4 a.m. Super early, I know. And the reason was that the mall was 1:45 h away, and they opened it at 6:00 am. The main worry for the family was that we might not get good offers if we were to get there by 11 am or later, and that is why we woke up early. In the mall I didn't experience any fighting or discomfort. The only "conflict" I felt was in the line of Victoria Secret (best shop ever) when a woman passed in front of me because "she didn't see me". If there is one thing I hate, is line jumpers... And she was one... I didn't want to fight, so I simply said "You know, I was here". She replied with a "Oh dear, I'm so sorry I didn't see you". By the time she said that I felt blood boiling... But I thought, relax... Anyway...  The day was pretty good and I really enjoyed it. It was not as crowded as I thought I'd be. And I got to do some shopping for less $$$$$  :)
